During the year it is nice to exercise while it is warm outside. In the winter it gets down into subzero temperatures making exercise outside impossible. Although shoveling snow can be a way to exercise, it is not always fun to do while it is so cold.
The Hart building on the BYU-Idaho campus provides many different opportunities to exercise and keep fit. The Hart building provides a gym free of charge for students and professors, and is always warm, so there is no need to wear a jacket while exercising. There is also an indoor track to run around when the need to run emerges. If you like to keep track of the calories you burn, then you can use the bikes and treadmills that have the equipment necessary for this. There are also free weights and regular weight machines as well. Located upstairs is an archery range, and a gym for volleyball and basketball.
The Hart also provides your own personal trainer, which is nice when you are not sure how to go about exercising. I often don't understand what type of equipment to try and how often to use it. If you think you know what you need then go ahead and pick any equipment or exercise and do it. You will find that your self esteem increases as you exercise during the winter instead of being the normal couch potato.
